Cre8ability family programmes are a fun, interactive way for children aged 6-11 to learn about emotions. Children attend the sessions with a parent/grandparent or other adult carer. We believe this is key to making such a positive difference. The sessions promote health and wellbeing through the exploration of a variety of art and craft techniques. They aim to build new skills which in turn will naturally increase confidence, self-esteem and resilience. We explore what feelings are and why we have them, discover how emotions feel in the body and what we can do to manage emotions that may be uncomfortable or tricky to deal with and define ways to build positive relationships within the family and with friends. We also build in ‘relaxation time’ … something beneficial to young and old alike.
Our programmes are generally held in schools and Children’s centres at the end of the school day and sessions run once a week for an hour and a half on a day that is appropriate for your group. We recommend groups of 10 -12 families (maximum number of individuals 30). We also welcome interest from other organisations working with children and families wishing to plan a 6 week programme for your group.
Emotional Intelligence is a fundamental life skill. When children can recognise, understand and manage their emotions effectively their chances of thriving and prospering throughout their whole life improve. Cre8ability have developed their own bespoke Emotional Intelligence Toolkit which is used in our family programme sessions and is available to schools and childcare settings. The resources help children to learn about their emotions in a fun way.
‘Our journey through the 6-Week Family Programme has been transformative. Our families, threw themselves into meaningful sessions, discovering insights that have woven stronger bonds amongst them. Witnessing the children’s joy during craft activities alongside their parents has been heart-warming – the sessions have made a real difference. But it’s the intangible moments—the shared laughter, the quiet conversations—that have left an indelible mark.‘ Dave McPartlin, Headteacher, Flakefleet Primary School, Fleetwood, Lancs. April 2024.
